This page is especially for Casper, who we sadly lost in March 2020, the years of abuse and neglect had taken their toll. Casper was surrounded by love and warmth in the final 5 months of his life.
On Halloween Night Casper was thrown over the gate of a Merseyside rescue centre.
He was taken into the temporary care of someone at the centre, until he could be transported down to the peace and safety of the Last Chance Hotel Animal Sanctuary at Chacewater. Casper is about 8 or 9 years old, a lurcher, a gentle boy by all accounts…

This little man is heading to us in Cornwall next week... rescued by Steph Taylor who has had him checked by her vet and is holding him safe and loved until transport is arranged... he will be a sanctuary boy, but he will need a sponsor or sponsors if anyone can help.... He will need someone who can help with his vet bills. Casper will no longer want for the love and attention he has never had... If you can help, there are a number of ways to donate... please mention "Casper" with your donation, thank you. Casper arrived in Cornwall at the LCH Sanctuary on Wednesday 6th November...
8th November: When Casper met Matt....
Casper was an absolute star at Cornish Paws Veterinary Practice today. All his lumps and bumps mapped, his teeth examined, ears, eyes and joints. Casper seems to have a dicky heart, so the first plan of action is to see the Heart specialist, Oliver. Obviously until Casper is much more fit and healthy our options are limited, but getting his heart looked at is urgent as that will dictate our next move. So for now we will continue with his pain relief etc and revisit after he has seen Oliver. Photo: Casper with Matt Thomas, the vet. |
Wednesday 27th November
So as the weeks go on, Casper is gaining in strength and a personality. After the life he has had, we are amazed at how loving and gentle he is. He is a big lad, a bull lurcher, who has been worked to near death. He has settled well at the sanctuary, and is fine with all the dogs here ... but we can't help wondering if he would need a quieter home ( hmmm he is deaf) where he gets one to one attention, he loves being near you, on your lap, by your side, under your feet :-) he just wants to be in your space, he just craves love. He is very food orientated as you can imagine, given the state of him when he landed in rescue. He is on vetmedin, and we need to get a grip on his teeth ( he has had some out, but a GA is no longer an option). He needs a quiet home, no kids at all, no small furries (untested) his new pal must be able to take him to our vet at Cornish Paws Penryn, for checkups etc. He is looking for an 'end of life' fosterer... we will cover his vet bills, although we will ask the fosterer to help fundraise for him. He will also need to be close, we would want to see him often, we would keep him in a heartbeat, but his needs far outweigh ours. |
